The First Step
When we work with a new client on a website project, we help them through the creative process.  We help them determine the purpose of the site and how it will function for visitors.

new projects

We start with a free consultation.
Each new project starts with a discussion with the site owner regarding the purpose of the site.  We work with you on the features and styles best suited for your site information and prospects.

We also help you on what features are within your price range and look at alternatives to ideas that may be too expensive.

Once we know the framework for the site and a basic idea on the site design, we put a proposal together that details how the site will be developed and discuss the look and feel of the website to make sure we are all on the same page.

We begin the project.

Do you have a website project you wish to discuss?  Give us a call at 800-745-7781 or email us at info@bsimedia.com.

The website development process

Project discover session

  • Determine the style/type of website needed to accomplish your goals.
  • Estimate the amount of content that is going to be on the website
  • Determine if the site needs an admin database for keeping up with visitor/client information
  • Determine the budget for the initial foundation of the website (we an always add on later)
  • Determine the responsibilities for content creation & photography
  • The client must secure a domain name

Proposal Stage:

  • We prepare a proposal that takes into account the information gathered during the discover session

Authorization:

  • Before we can begin the project, we have to receive written authorization in the form of a signature and a deposit.

Development Stage:
Depending on the type of website we are creating.

  • We either begin by creating a online preview of the website layout and page tabs
  • or we start with a PDF storyboard of the project that shows each page and the areas designated for photos, text, links, logins, etc..

This part of the project can go through several revisions before the final website layout is determined.

Once the final layout is approved

  • We begin placing the graphics, text and other website components into the layout.
  • Sometimes text and graphics are provided by the client
  • most times the graphics are provided by us and you will supply us with text (in whatever format you have it, preferably digital).
  • The text can either be information you have written
  • Composed by us through an interview we conduct with you
  • Text generated using an outline prepared by you
  • Collected through links to prepared content that is authorized by you to use, etc.

When preparing content, remember that search engines are looking for relevant content.  If you want to increase your ranking position, keep your content focused on your main key subject.

If we are working with an online preview

  • You will have the ability to see how the project is going anytime through a link provided by us.

For more complicated websites

  • If we are developing a Flash site, or an ecommerce/admin website, or more complicated html/php/asp site, it will be constructed in phases.  There will be certain stages during the development process that we will ask you to visit the site to make sure progress is going in the direction we both agreed on.

After your website is complete.

  • If we have to move your domain name IP address from an existing website to the new website, we will make the necessary modifications to your name servers.  We will need your user name and password to have access to your domain name registrar.  Usually we get this information in advance.
  • We will go over the hosting and maintenance of the website.
  • If we have programmed your website to be dynamic (allows you to make changes on your own), then we will go over that process with you.

Your website goes live.
